Why a Dog Shouldn’t be your Only Source of Chicago Home Security

A dog can not only provide you with a sense of security, but companionship as well. Even so, a guard dog should not be your only form of Chicago home security for a number of reasons and here are just a few of them for you:

#1. Your home is unprotected if you ever need to kennel your dog

When going on vacation, it’s not possible to leave your dog at home alone. Placing your dog in a kennel leaves your home vulnerable at a time when protecting it is more important than ever.

#2. Dogs require training and discipline to become good watch dogs

A common misconception people have is that all dogs naturally make good watch dogs. The fact is that canines require the right training and discipline in order to act as watch dogs. A great deal of commitment is needed if you are to train your dog properly. Otherwise, your animal could easily be influenced by an intruder offering treats or toys and not perform as expected.

#3. Sick or aging animals may be unable to perform

A young, healthy trained dog may do a good job of protecting your family; however, if your canine becomes sick, the odds of him being able to do so are greatly diminished. Likewise, as your dog ages, he’s less likely to react to a home intrusion due to hearing loss or limited mobility.
