The holiday season for many people means visiting friends and family. However, being away from the home for so many hours out of the day gives burglars the perfect time to break-in. Unfortunately, there are many homes that are burglarized during this time of the year. It is important to take steps now to protect valuables and family members.
It does not matter whether you are home or away, take time to lock windows and doors, even during the day. Set home and car alarms, because most people have gifts and valuables in their home and car. Utilize closed circuit video surveillance systems.
Avoid alerting burglars to what is in your home by breaking down big item boxes. Make the boxes hard to identify and if possible recycle them quickly. Nothing alerts burglars quicker than a computer and flat screen TV boxes.
Make your home a lit-up safe environment for guests and family. The more lighting in your yard and house, the less likely burglars will lurk. Be sure to trim branches and shrubs to minimize places for burglars to hide.
Be discreet about your plans to be away from home. As we mentioned previously make arrangements with a friend or family member to pick up your mail, or postponed delivery all together. Leave lights on in certain rooms of the home. Be sure to set your television to turn on certain times during the day and evening as well. You want to be as unpredictable as possible when leaving home for a long period of time.
The holiday season is the perfect time to invest in a good home security season. A peace of mind and security is the perfect gift for all family members, personal valuables and your home. Be sure to choose the type of security that you feel will work best for you and your family.
No one wants to spend their holidays filing police reports. Take steps today to protect your home and family. To find out more about home security protection this holiday season contact us.
